Introduced in the early 1930s, the Mullard DW5 is among the best rectifier of its kind.

This pattern is balloon shape with pip top.

The max filament voltage of 4 Volts and high filament current of 3 amps requires an Anode voltage of 700 R.M.S.

When audio was still in embryo  the DW5 was used in H.T. supply units as well as  battery charging equipment.

Today’s use is mainly focused on radio and amplifiers with stunning results.
